Who We Are

Nowadays, furniture Stores carry entire collections of furniture, lamps and other items that are mostly based on the classic design of the German „Moderne“. However, most of the times all these pieces have one thing in common: they lack the certain knack, style and elegance of their predecessors.

People who love the originals and are aware of this lack have usually much higher standards. They know that the pinnacle of taste and style had already reached its peak some time ago. The sleekest car in the world, the most elegant interior decorations and all the breathtaking architecture was designed in the first half of the 20th century – between the worlds of Metropolis and James Bond.

For those who love original decor and timeless beauty, there is our Gallery „ZEITLOS – BERLIN“ („Timeless“) in the stilwerk Berlin. Here you will find the originals, designed by the leading artists of the 20th Century – everything from chairs, sofas, desks, tables and cabinets to lamps and wardrobes. „ZEITLOS“ has everything that made the Bauhaus, Art Deco and the streamlined Machine Age the symbiosis of avantgarde, function, comfort and superior taste.

The high standards of „ZEITLOS“ is apparant in the wide range of the many exclusive pieces in this assortment and the desire to offer something for everybody.

This is what you will find at ZEITLOS – BERLIN:

a) Original Pieces from exhibitions and museums for collectors of significant and historically relevant period pieces – unrestored and with the patina intact! The prices of these objects depend on the actual value in the antiquity market. At the same time we will try our best to come up with affordable prices.

b) Furniture and objects in perfectly restored conditions, ready to be used in home and office. We will carefully restore the surfaces of metals, woods, even fabrics to their origins in painstaking detail – thus making them fully useable. Prices for these pieces are mostly reasonable and can easily compete with the rather lackluster and overpriced new designer pieces.

c) Totally new Reproductions of particularly notable and wonderful original designs that are keeping up in style, quality and solid workmanship with the original epoche of the Moderne. In addition, we are developing new pieces and new designs in the „style of“ that era that didn’t necessarily existed, but could and should have – and which look very authentic. We call these tasteful Retro-products the „forgotten designs“.

d) Restoring your damaged or just shopworn treasures of the Moderne. We have a very wide and varied network of specialists, art experts and craftsmen at hand, as well as some rare companies that haven’t lost the art (and knowledge) of working in a field of such specific workmanship. Of course, we will consider your very own ideas about those restaurations and will work together for a fabulous result.

e) Interiors and store constructions. „ZEITLOS“ works exclusively with Oliver Axer of the company „Deutsche Moderne“ in Berlin. He is an expert of the Moderne of the 20th Century as well as a member of the „Bauhaus“-Archive in Berlin. Axer predominantly designs in the Bauhaus- and Futurism-style of the prewar era. He ist completely responsible for the magnificent interior design of our new „ZEITLOS“ store. The decor of our new store reminds of the streamline interior designs of airships and ocean-liners of the 30s. We even used original materials. There are Bakelite casings with chrome-railings, and the store is lit by about 60 original Zeiss-Ikon spotlights that were saved from an original 30s broadcasting radio stand from a trade show. The newly designed bullseye-wall lamps, encased in chrome, aren’t just wonderful reminders of the witty aerodynamic designs, but also project carefully chosen photos with motives of the „Moderne“ era into the store and onto the walls. All of this is a spectacular example of the new and exclusive product line of „ZEITLOS“/Deutsche Moderne. Naturally, we are already developing new ideas and designs.

All of a sudden, and almost all over the world, trains, cars, skyscrapers, art objects, clothes and jewelry looked like nothing else has ever before.
