Description:

The lamp we offer here was purchased in the early 90s by a Berlin art dealer from the estate of the legendary Berlin architect Eckart Muthesius. Eckart Muthesius was the son of the Berlin architect Hermann Muthesius and the concert singer Anna Muthesius. He studied first at the United State School of Fine and Applied Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg and then at the Regent Polytechnic in London. There he met in 1929 in Oxford, Shiri Jeshwan Rao Holkar Bahadur, the Maharajah of Indore. This commissioned promising young architects to build and furnish his palace Manik Bagh in the capital Indore. Besides his own designs, Eckart Muthesius used for the interior design furniture by Eileen Gray, Le Corbusier, Jacques Emile Ruhlmann, Louis Sognot and Charlotte Perriand. The building became worldwide renowned for its sophisticated classical modern luxury.
